After a career with Dewhurst butchers Mr. Talbot (Bert) Blanchard decided to start his own business and opened his first retail shop in south Oxhey in 1957. When trying to think of a catchy name for the business Talbot (Bert) decided to use his nick name of Tolly and so Tolly Oxhey LTD was formed.

After some time the business was going well and another shop became available in the middle of Moor Park residential estate and this was purchased by Talbot (Bert).

I started work with Mr. Brian Blanchard (Talbot’s son) as a manager in 1989 of the Moor Park premises.

I worked closely with Brian and in 1995 Brian said he would like to retire himself and would I like to buy the business and I decided I would.

I bought the company in 1996 from Mr Brian Blanchard at this time it was predominately a retail business.

I wanted to keep the name Tolly as it was well established but I also wanted to personalize it to myself. Having two sons of my own (Adam & Lewis) I decided to call the new company Tolly & Sons.

We have marketed the company towards the catering industry supplying golf clubs, hotels & restaurants. Our reputation for quality and service has enabled the company to grow at a steady pace.

Our aim is to continue to improve standards and company growth but always remain a family business providing our customers with the level of service and quality that our reputation has been built on.
