After leaving school at fourteen and completing my apprenticeship I was then fortunate enough to be guided by some great people within some of the best meat and poultry companies in the UK in the additional skills of management, purchasing, finance and marketing.
I went on to start my own business in 1994, having established a thriving retail sector providing quality products and excellent friendly service at competitive prices I could see an opportunity in the catering and hospitality sectors providing those key three fundamental values that I had used to expand the retail business.
We quickly expanded our wholesale as larger companies could not offer the one to one support that we could provide giving us the reputation as a trusted partner to chefs and kitchens supplying some of the most prestigious venues in the area.
In 2012 my partner Carmel joined the business taking care of accounts, administration and helping with customer support. Around the same time the company purchased spit roast and rotisserie machines and catering barbecue with all accompanying equipment. Carmel’s previous local directorships within the hospitality industry has been invaluable in securing our position for organizing and execution of celebratory functions, social events and our hire services
In 2016 my youngest son Lewis joined the company and then in 2017 after finishing university and gaining a business degree my eldest son Adam also joined the team. They are now both accomplished butchers and have their own great relationships with our clients. They both bring fresh new ideas to the business but fully understand the original values of Tolly & Sons that have got us this far and making us a true family business
